EWS admission process in Noida and Greater Noida schools

As per RTE Act, 25% seats in private unaided schools in the state are to be made available for economically weaker section (EWS)/Disadvantaged group (DG). Every year, the UP state education department issues a notification inviting applications with lottery timelines from parents belonging to the EWS, who are interested in getting their wards admitted in recognized unaided private schools under Section 12(1)(C) of the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Not every one can apply under the scheme and the admissions take place over a time bound manner. We look in detail at the EWS admission process in Noida and Greater Noida schools (this applies to all UP schools including Ghaziabad schools as well).

Admission process:

  • Check if the process is open for admission at http://rte25.upsdc.gov.in/index.aspx website (the website may change in future). Also, UP education department publishes the news of EWS admissions in leading newspapers. For year 2020-21 for example, this was done in February, 2020.

  • If the process is open, fill online application as student/parent. Also, offline forms can be downloaded and filled and submitted at the address specified at the website. The form asks parents for details with respect to domicile, EWS/DG proof and nearby schools. Note down the registration number.

  • Private unaided schools are supposed to share their availability at the same website.

  • Lottery is conducted by the state department once entries are received from private schools.

  • Finally, a certain number of days are given to parents to complete formalities for admissions.

Pre-requisites for EWS admission process in Noida and Greater Noida schools:

  • An applicant needs to have an EWS certificate or DG proof

  • Applicant shall have state domicile proof

  • Applicant shall have a birth certificate

  • Submission of filled in form with documents

As of 2020, any child in age group of 3 to 6 years as on April 1st and belonging to economically weaker section (with annual income of family below 1 lakh) or to disadvantaged group (SC/ST/disabled/orphaned etc.) is eligible to apply under the scheme.

Disclaimer: The process given here may become obsolete over a period of time. Hence, readers are requested to verify the same with government authorities as well.
