Xiaomi RedMi 1S review – not so cute!!!
I was super excited sharing this review quite hopeful of offering something novel.
But just before I could begin jotting down the review, I stumbled upon the internet and could see a plethora of review sites offering reviews about the product.
Distraught, I am still going forward with the review to give you a possibly different perspective of the product 🙂
The model was launched with much fan fare on Flipkart last week and has been able to generate ample interest among the buyer community.
All the models were sold within a few minutes of its launch.
While we all tried our luck twice (sold twice so far on Flipkart), one of our friend was lucky.
And this review is courtesy him and our constant interference operating his phone.
Main features of the phone include:
- 1.6 GHz quad-core processor.
- 8 GB flash memory
- 4.7 inch display
- Dual SIM
- 8 MP Rear and 1.6 MP front camera
- 1 GB RAM
- 8 GB Storage
To make it more readable, we have put the pros and the cons in tabular form below:
Pros | Cons |
Excellent camera. Front camera especially at 2 MP is unbelievably good. | Slow processing. Sometimes opening contacts itself hangs. And that’s only after 2 days of usage!!! |
Good battery life. | Average build quality and looks. Nothing special. |
Display may find favors with basic phone users as its unlike the usual Android phones. | It has its own display with Android OS which is quite unlike usual Android phones. Hence, Android users wont be able to relate to this instantly. |
My guess is that for a price as low as 6K and with this configuration, people would not mind taking a plunge. Next sale for the model on Flipkart begins at 2 PM today (16th September).

I wany to buy a mobile ph. Bt i am confused between redmi 1s ,moto e and android one by micromax.plz help me out.
Thanks Ayush for writing to us.
Moto e would cost you around 7 k. Micromax android one would cost around 6.5k with freebies worth 2k (assume .5 k of which will be useful, so effective price of 6k).
Redmi 1s would cost 6k.
It depends upon whats high on priority for you.
If camera is a big criteria, go for redmi 1s whose camera is exceptionally good. Second choice should be Moto e and Micromax A1 shall be the last choice.
If money is a prime criteria and you can go easy with camera quality, go for Micromax A1.
On other features and service, Motorola fares a tad better.
Hope it helps Ayush. Looking forward to hearing from your experiences.
Seen some reviews of battery getting hot after prolonged use of 2 hours or so.
We saw such reviews too. However haven’t experienced it so far. Will keep you updated.
How about the pre-loaded applications?
It has a pre-loaded security and memory optimization apps. Rest are more or less standard apps.
