Schools seeking CBSE affiliation need to wait longer now

CBSE has brought back its mandatory no-objection certificate (NOC) policy for schools from this year. Accordingly, all schools need to submit a NOC from state while submitting application seeking CBSE affiliation. The policy was done away with during 2013 when the then Minister of state Shashi Tharoor approved of the exemption given the complaints of harassment by State Education officials. This move of bypassing NOC policy was then intended to prevent corruption in the procedure. However, now the schools are bound to share a ‘No objection certificate (NOC)’ to CBSE.

The reason why CBSE asks for this kind of an info is because all schools are part of State Education Department and hence originally affiliated to state boards. In order to move to CBSE, these schools are supposed to have classes operational till class VIII and need to provide a NOC from State Education department to back their demand for affiliation.

With the policy of providing NOC being re-introduced, Schools are more likely to wait for longer duration for seeking the CBSE affiliations now. Previously, before 2013, Schools used to wait for a period of 3 months to 6 months for getting the necessary NOC from states. And the era would be back again.
